What is Inside Industrial?

Inside Industrial is a dynamic program by MaiiC and NYCPS aimed at inspiring NYC middle and high school students about manufacturing, supply chain, innovation, infrastructure, and technology. The initiative connects classroom learning with real-world applications through facility tours, hands-on product design activities, and discussions with industry professionals.

Youth Programs

  • Industrial Business Tours: MaiiC will partner with NYC Public Schools and DYCD to provide tours to industrial businesses for students as a way to introduce them to manufacturing in New York City. Businesses will share about the products that they create and introduce students to their manufacturing process.

    Makerspace Field Trips: MaiiC will partner with DYCD and MakerspaceNYC to provide a three-day curriculum that includes basic training in production and engage in a hands-on activity that allows students to becoming involved in the making process. Students will learn about different types of manufacturing including the technology required in the manufacturing process.

    • Industrial Business Zone Tours: MaiiC will partner with NYC Public Schools and industrial business service providers to provide high school students with tours of New York City’s industrial business zones. Students will be introduced to manufacturing zones and why they are important to the manufacturing sector. We will also visit businesses and discuss the importance of manufacturing careers and apprenticeships.

    • Makerspace Field Trips: We will partner with Makerspace to provide tours to high school students introducing them to the manufacturing process and the technology and machinery required to produce in New York City. Students will also engage in a hands-on activity, allowing them to become involved in the making process.

    • Career and Innovation Expos: We will organize a series of conventions and tours highlighting careers and innovation in NYC’s industrial industry. We will partner with industrial experts, businesses and other city agencies aiming to change student perception and create awareness of available apprenticeships. This program will be an on-ramp directly to apprenticeships.
